In this Nashville family home, we leveraged super-durable materials (to withstand fort-building, spills, big dogs, little kids, and things flying through the air) as well as an unexpected combination of traditional style and bold art — both the family’s own creations as well as murals and pieces by their favorite artist, Myles Maille. In addition to the vast collection of kids’ art and original works made by the mother of the family, we also incorporated family heirlooms that span multiple generations, including representation of a grandparent who’s no longer living and whose collection of lapel pins we framed and hung in several different rooms. This family loves participating Mardi Gras in New Orleans each year, and that love informed our vision for their home and is seen in the gorgeous antiques mixed with Myles Maille’s wild murals.
