House of color, pattern, and personality

a.k.a. 15 wallpapers, zero regrets
Nashville, TN

Mary Kathryn’s own home is a love letter to her family: this house holds five people, one dog, and a boatload of color, pattern, and joy. With 15 different wallpapers across 14 rooms, it’s bold but never chaotic, and carefully layered with joyful artwork, practical materials, and personality at every turn.

Mary Kathryn designed this home as a living archive of her family. The dining room features a custom wallpaper made entirely from her kids’ artwork — a collaboration with New Hat. The seahorse coffee table in the living room was selected by her 11-year-old son and is for outdoor use, making it extra durable. And individual stories are celebrated in every room, from the entry that functions as the family’s personal art gallery of their own creations to the multipurpose den that now functions as her husband’s office by day, and tween gaming zone and sleepover central in evenings and on weekends (the fuchsia sofa is a sleeper).

Every decision was made with durability in mind — stain-resistant fabrics, machine-washable pillow covers, and outdoor materials inside. Because real life is messy, but joy and chaos can absolutely coexist. And coming home should always feel like a sigh of relief.
